Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 1 January 2025 · Durianwor Bench · Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of this website and the services offered by Durianwor Bench, a watch repair and restoration studio operating from 4 Lebuh Pasar Besar, 50050 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia.
By submitting an enquiry through this website, bringing a piece to the studio, or arranging a service remotely, you indicate that you have read and understood these terms. If you have questions before proceeding, please contact the studio at [email protected] or by telephone at +60 3-2071 6849.
These terms are subject to Malaysian law. The studio may update them from time to time; the version displayed on this page at the time of your enquiry applies to that engagement.
2. Services and Scope
The studio offers mechanical watch services as described on this website. These currently include Wheel Train Inspection and Cleaning, Wristwatch Bracelet Length Reduction and Storage of Removed Links, and Watch History Conversation Sessions.
Service descriptions on this website represent the typical scope of each offering. The exact approach taken for a particular piece may vary based on the condition of the movement, the availability of compatible materials, and the studio's assessment of what is appropriate for that piece.
The studio may, at its discretion, recommend a broader or different service if the condition of a piece warrants it. Any revision to the original scope will be communicated to the owner before work proceeds.
Watch History Conversation Sessions are informational in nature and do not constitute appraisal, authentication, or valuation of any timepiece. The studio shares publicly available historical context and does not make representations regarding monetary value or provenance.
3. Intake and Acceptance of Pieces
A service engagement begins when the studio confirms acceptance of a piece in writing. Prior to acceptance, the studio may request photographs, a description of the concern, and any relevant service history the owner is able to provide.
The studio reserves the right to decline a piece if it falls outside the studio's area of competence, or if its condition makes safe handling difficult without specialist resources not available at this studio.
Intake Inspection
Upon intake, the studio records the visible condition of the piece including case cosmetics, crystal condition, dial state, and any pre-existing marks. The owner will be informed of findings prior to service commencement. This record forms the baseline for the piece's condition at entry.
Remote Submissions
Owners located outside Kuala Lumpur may arrange to send a piece by post or courier. The studio's preferred arrangements for shipping are described separately on this website. The studio accepts no responsibility for loss or damage occurring during transit to or from the studio, and recommends that owners arrange appropriate coverage through their chosen carrier before dispatch.
4. Pricing and Payment
Prices published on this website are indicative and denominated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). The final price for a service is confirmed in writing when the studio accepts the piece and agrees on scope with the owner.
Where additional work is identified during the service, the studio will communicate the additional cost and seek the owner's agreement before proceeding. Work will not be extended beyond the agreed scope without this confirmation.
Payment is due upon collection or prior to return shipment, as agreed with the studio. Accepted payment methods will be confirmed at the time of booking.
Pieces held at the studio beyond 60 days following notification of service completion, where the owner has not made contact or arrangement, may be subject to a reasonable storage fee. The studio will contact the owner by the recorded means before applying such a fee.
5. Parts and Materials
The studio's approach to parts sourcing distinguishes between modern production parts and vintage or period-appropriate components. Where a replacement part is required, the studio will discuss options with the owner, including the availability and relative merits of new old stock, service-grade period components, and current manufacture alternatives.
The studio does not fit aftermarket parts that are not period-appropriate without explicit agreement from the owner. Where a period-correct component is not available or is disproportionately costly relative to the scope of the service, the studio will present the situation to the owner and proceed only on their instruction.
Lubricants, cleaning solutions, and consumable materials used during servicing are selected by the studio according to calibre requirements and are not separately itemised unless the owner requests a materials breakdown.
6. Liability
The studio takes reasonable care in handling all pieces. However, the studio's liability in connection with any service is limited to the price paid for that service. The studio is not liable for pre-existing defects not identified at intake, for the depreciation in value of a piece following service, or for consequential loss of any kind.
In cases where a piece is found during service to have an undisclosed fault that materially affects safe handling or successful completion of the agreed service, the studio will notify the owner immediately and suspend work pending further instruction. The studio will not be liable for any loss arising from such a suspension.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or liability for fraud.
7. Warranty on Completed Work
The studio stands behind its workmanship. Where a concern arises from completed service work within three months of collection, the studio will review the piece without additional charge and, if the concern is attributable to the studio's work, will address it at no cost to the owner.
This arrangement does not cover concerns arising from subsequent physical impact, submersion beyond the piece's original design specification, or interference by a third party following collection.
Bracelet length reduction services are not subject to a workmanship review if the owner has subsequently made changes to link configuration or subjected the bracelet to unusual stress. Removed links are returned in their original condition; the studio does not warrant future usability of removed links, as bracelet tolerances may change over time.
8. Use of This Website
This website is provided for informational purposes. The content describes the studio's services, approach, and general information about mechanical horology. It does not constitute advice on the value, condition, or authenticity of any timepiece.
The studio endeavours to keep information on this website accurate and current. However, details such as pricing and service scope may be updated from time to time, and the studio recommends confirming current pricing directly before submitting a piece for service.
Unauthorised reproduction of content from this website, including text descriptions of services and studio methodology, is not permitted without written consent from the studio.

The use of cookies and local storage on this website is described in the Cookie Policy.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from a service engagement or use of this website will, in the first instance, be addressed through direct communication between the owner and the studio. The studio is open to reasonable discussion and will endeavour to resolve concerns without formal process where possible.
If a matter cannot be resolved informally, it may be referred to the appropriate courts of Malaysia having jurisdiction.
